India’s aviation boom has exposed how fragile the country’s airline system has become. Fast growth in passenger demand, huge aircraft orders, and the push to expand regional connectivity have outpaced the supply of pilots, engineers, aircraft reliability, and operational slack. At the same time, IndiGo has become so dominant that any disruption at the carrier can ripple across the whole network, while Air India is still in the middle of a difficult rebuild. Recent safety incidents and the shock from new fatigue rules show that the real stake is whether India can keep growing without turning strain, shortages, and technical problems into a systemic aviation crisis.
